In July 6th, the new German BASF group and Chinese polytetrahydrofurane Xinjiang Markor chemical Limited by Share Ltd joint venture (PolyTHF) production plant officially put into operation in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region city of Korla, to provide products for domestic customers.

The new PolyTHF device, the annual production capacity of 50 thousand tons, manufactured by BASF and Merck's joint venture with BASF Markor chemical industry (Xinjiang) limited liability company responsible for the operation, will support the growing customer demand.

It is reported that PolyTHF is mainly used for the production of polyurethane elastic fibre for various kinds of fabrics, including swimwear, sportswear, underwear and coat etc.. In addition, or the production of thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) based raw materials, TPU can be used for the production of hose, film and cable sheath. Other applications include thermoplastic polyether ester, polyether amide and polyurethane elastomer, used for the production of skateboarding and rollerblading shoe roller etc..
